FAMILY MEDIATION
Florida Supreme Court Certified Family Mediator

Mediation is a process whereby an independent third party, the mediator, acts as a facilitator of negotiations between two or more disputing parties in an effort to resolve all or most of the issues in dispute. Mediation can take place prior to a case ever being filed, whether the parties represent themselves (pro se) or are represented by attorneys of their choosing, or after a case has been filed. The following are some of the benefits of mediation:
*Proceedings within mediation are strictly confidential
*Less expensive than the cost of litigation
*Parties are empowered to maintain control of the outcome of their dispute
*Results are usually obtained quicker
*Mediation may open and/or improve communication between parties
*Agreements reached at mediation are legally binding and enforceable
*Mediation diminishes the stress caused by protracted litigation and allows the healing process to commence
*Childrens best interests are promoted when parents are able to discuss and successfully resolve child-related issues during mediation

As your Family Mediator, I can assist you in resolving your case even before it is filed by meeting with pro se litigants who wish to preserve their assets and minimize the expense, both economic and emotional, of protracted litigation. An agreement reached at mediation is memorialized in writing and the parties are off to filing an uncontested divorce petition. If you are represented by counsel during a pre-suit mediation, your attorney is welcomed to attend the mediation and provide you the legal advice that I, when acting as a Family Mediator, will not be able to offer either party.

Once a case is filed, you and your attorney may decide to attend a mediation session early on or you may be ordered to do so by the judge before your case is set for final hearing (trial). The process remains the same, with all the above benefits, whether pre or post-suit, whether you are represented by counsel or on your own.

I bring to the table over thirty years of experience in the Family and Marital Law arena. Although I will not be able to provide you with any legal advice as a Family Mediator, my familiarity with this area of the law is of great benefit to assist the parties to swiftly transition from one issue to the next. Furthermore, my work during the last fifteen years has blessed me with insight straight from children. It helps me to better focus on their best interests while facilitation negotiations between the parties on child-related issues. Why allow a third party who knows nothing about you or your family make decisions that will impact a lifetime? Keep control in your own hands. Mediation is the key.

Because I am fully bilingual, I can conduct a mediation session in either English or Spanish. Although my office is centrally located and spacious conference rooms are suitable and conducive to successful mediation sessions, I am willing to travel to another reasonable location at no additional cost to accommodate the parties.
